on:africa

a thematic africa-focused journal

Almost there…

What an exciting stage to be at in the on:africa project! We’ve spent most of July reading through the submissions for the birth edition of on:africa. We’re thrilled to report here that the diversity and quality of the submissions have met and exceeded the benchmarks that we set all those many moons ago. When we first sent out the request for submissions, we sent it to friends and colleagues from different walks of life. In the time between our first call for submissions and now, we’ve had responses from people we didn’t know, people we didn’t solicit – a testimony to the wide network people we know and the even wider network of people they know. So please keep passing us on – may the network long continue to expand!

We’ve received articles ranging in length, including both longer and shorter pieces. Subject matters have included more literal discussions of the physical act of birth right through to more metaphorical embodiments of the theme that examine the (re)births of ‘new’ nations. Styles have included non-fiction and fiction, creative pieces, thoughts, reflections and analysis. We look forward to sharing them with you – rest assured, you wont have to wait very long!
